| Mussoorie Gramin vikas Samiti (MGVS) |
A remarkable outcome of the reflection on the life and ministry of CRSC is emergence of the Mussoorie Gramin Vikas Samiti (MGVS). This is the social service wing of CRSC. Started in the year 1981, MGVS is effectively working among the rural poor communities in the villages around Mussoorie. Rev Robert C Alter and Rev P D Sham Rao were instrumental in starting and running this program.
Through MGVS, we are making efforts to reach to the rural underprivileged people to be part of them in their struggles and through our presence we are trying to help them experience fullness of life. The various programs that we run through MGVS are - community health, education, self help groups, women's empowerment, agriculture, appropriate technology, community organization etc. While the Retreat Centre gives us an atmosphere for study and reflection, MGVS gives us an opportunity to translate those reflections into action. MGVS has now been registered as a separate society and functions independently having its own Constitution and Board of Management. If you are interested to know more about MGVS and its ministries, contact
